  • rclone is an open-source command-line tool that syncs files with 40+ cloud storage providers. Ultra Explorer puts a graphical interface on top of it: dual-pane explorer, drag and drop, sync previews, quota gauges and a disk space analyzer.

  • Yes. Ultra Explorer handles your local drives, NFS mounts, and SMB/CIFS network shares with the same care as remote clouds (Google Drive, S3, Dropbox). You can transfer and synchronize directories between local disks or between your NAS and the cloud.

  • On macOS, Windows, and Linux, simply grab the native installer (DMG, MSI, or the Snap package). For server or home lab use (Synology, Unraid, TrueNAS), we provide an official lightweight Docker image with ready-to-run Docker Compose.

  • Ultra Explorer talks to the local rclone binary over local IPC. Credentials are stored in rclone.conf on your machine and are only sent to your cloud providers’ own APIs. They never go through our servers.

  • Ultra Explorer is designed to prevent silent overwrites. Safe Update mode never deletes existing destination files. If you select Exact Mirror mode, you must review a preview before the first run, and a configurable deletion threshold guards against catastrophic mistakes.

  • Yes. You can directly import existing rclone.conf configuration files (such as from your rclone CLI setup) or password-encrypted backup archives. Ultra Explorer isolates its managed configuration to safeguard your system, and provides an import review dialog with pre-flight storage comparisons before replacing your setup. You can also export your configurations at any time as unencrypted files or AES-256 encrypted archives (requiring a strong password of at least 12 characters).
